Black Coyote

We caught this guy recently on one of our driveway trail cameras. Pretty cool.

Pretty cool, I should say, when viewed remotely.

We saw one about a year ago, closer to our house. It was dusk and he was walking toward us on the driveway… he looked pitch black. We made some noise to get his attention and, after leveling his skeptical gaze at us for a moment, he vanished into the woods.

I’ve read the color is the result of crossbreeding with red wolves and domestic dogs.

Don’t know if that is true or not. But I can attest… they are some spooky and intimidating animals.
